Significant Investor Stream (subclass 188C)

This is a provisional visa. You can stay in Australia for up to 5 years if you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021.

This stream is for people who are willing to invest at least AUD5 million (legally acquired) into complying significant investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Attractive features of this stream:

• No points test
• No upper age limit
• No English requirement
• Spend just 160 out of four years in Australia to get the Permanent visa

"Complying Significant Investment" for the purposes of the Significant Investor Visa includes:

• Venture capital funds;
• ASIC regulated managed funds making investments in Australian assets; or
• Direct investment into a private Australian companies or your own company.

Once you are granted this visa, you can apply for permanent residence through the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) in the Significant Investor stream, if you meet below requirements

• Make investment of at least AUD5 million in a Complying Significant Investment and hold the investment continuously during the whole period of holding 188 SIV or extension visa;
• Stay required amount of days in Australia:
• 40 multiplied by the number of complete years in which you held a subclass 188 SIV visa and extension visa (if any); or
• 160 multiplied by the number of complete years in which your spouse held a subclass 188 SIV visa and extension visa (if any)
• Have a genuine and realistic commitment to continue your business and investment activity in Australia
